Jewish messiah, the Next Temple, and the Jewish Satan!
A great deal of antagonism and conflict surrounds the apparent Jewish Temple Site in Jerusalem currently, between Muslims, Jews and Christians.
The apparent location of the 1st Temple built by Solomon in the 10th Century BC (BCE= BC; CE=AD; these symbols are used to avoid ref. to Christ’s birth date by various commentators); is now occupied by the Islamic “Dome of the Rock”, and the “Al-Aqsa Mosque’s”; these were started by order of Caliph, Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan, and completed by his successors; and have been on that Site since approx. AD 691. There have been various re-builds to both, especially after earthquakes.
Prior to that, the Site was occupied by a Roman Temple to Jupiter, built shortly after the Romans had razed to the ground the Jewish 2nd Temple, built by Ezra and Nehemiah in the BC 500s, upon their return from the 70 years Babylonian captivity. This was rebuilt by Herod in approx. BC 20.
At this stage, it needs to be noted that the Christian concept of Satan, as seen and taught from the Bible, is not the same as that of Judaism teaching.
For the Jews, the Rabbinical teaching is that Satan is an obedient Angel, who in all the temptations that he propagates, is in obedience to the Command of God!
The resultant sinning by the Jew, is to be judged by God after their deaths according to some Rabbi’s; but others teach the day of judgment happens every year on Rosh Hashanah; therefore, the belief in a last day of judgment for all mankind is disputed. Some rabbis hold that there will be such a day following the resurrection of the dead. Others hold that there is no need for that because of Rosh Hashanah.
As regards the next Jewish Temple, most Rabbi’s teach that it will be enabled by the “Jewish messiah”; when he becomes apparent; that he will be of human stock, not Divine! There have been many claimants as messiah over the last 2000+ years, all failed to convince the Jewish Sanhedrin; and as Jesus was not accepted by them and Rome; they are spiritually unaware of the consequences of that decision 2000 years ago, and will not accept or realise the consequences for themselves until Zech. 12:10!
The Christian teaching is that Satan in his free-will is allowed to test and capture as many humans as possible in their free-will, in opposition to God’s “Free-will” efforts in the Love offering via Christ Jesus’s death for the forgiveness of individual and worldwide sinning, on the “accursed cross” in approx. AD30!
In this Christian concept, Satan has been at work since at least the “Garden of Eden”; and is known in the Bible as the “prince of the power of the air”, or “the god of this world” (John 14:30, 2Cor. 4:4).
The resultant of this latter, is that those people who put their trust in Jesus, are saved from “Judgement” after they die; and are “sealed in Heaven”, and in eternity are “ever with the Lord” (1Thess.4:17)!
